2015 was not the best year but I have no regrets. The passing year has been one experimental ride of uncertainties and deviation from the sheer patterns of unresolved New Year’s Resolutions. For 2015, I did not make one since I’ve been failing year after year. I thought I might make it big if I change routines but it went adversely berserk against me, leaving 2015 without goals, directions, positive change and tons of wishful thinking. And so, I decided to get back to the old “how to” and crafted my 2016 New Year’s resolutions with hopes that it might change my life (again!).

As commonly known, New Year’s resolutions are list of items you want to do or not to do in order to achieve a specific life goal like improving oneself, attaining a state or getting something worthwhile, be it monetary or non-monetary, experiencing a change and levelling up in terms of maturity and personal growth.

You can be as creative, bold, and adventurous with your list but make sure to be completely honest and committed; to start the ball rolling and to serve as a guide, here’s my ‘New Year’s resolution for 2016’:

1. Listen deep; Talk less
2. Develop the habit of saving and investing
3. Keep a Journal; write daily
4. Send quality time with loved ones
5. Learn a new skill before the year ends
6.  Eat healthy foods, exercise daily at least 20 minutes
7. Pray and meditate before starting the day
8. Take risks and embrace opportunities
9. Set aside retirement funds at least 10% of monthly salary
10. Read one good book a month

There are articles which suggest that resolutions should be “goal-like” in form and substance. Items should be (very) specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bounded. These characteristics give more force to the list and a sense of urgency. Some experts also noted that positive-stated resolutions tend to have more power and are likely to get implemented than those written in negative forms. Many other tips are provided online for your guidance, check it out later.

New Year’s resolutions are your guide on achieving a better 2016; The success of which will predominantly  lies on how well you have carried and executed during the year. So, stick on that list with all your might and claim 2016 your year!
